HAKOM: Increased Use of Railway Facilities and Positive Trend in Cargo Traffic

ZAGREB, 30 November 2015 -The increase in the usage of services has been marked on the railway services market where the provider HŽ Infrastruktura Ltd. provides services to the railway carriers The biggest growth has been recorded in the usage of weighing services and manoeuvring at weighting. The usage of rail infrastructure has increased 8% compared to the previous quarter, and the growth of 4 % has been recorded compared to the same period last year. .
 
In the third quarter of 2015, the passenger rail transport market has recorded a 22 % fall in the number of transported passengers compared to the previous quarter, while that percentage is almost the same compared to the same quarter of the year before The number of transported passengers does not include special trains carrying refugees. Referring to the freight transport a growth of 10 % was recorded compared to the previous quarter while in comparison to the same period of the year before a 3 % less freight was transported. These figures show that there is a positive trend on the market of freight railway transport which is the result of the work of HŽ Cargo holding the largest market share.
 
Rail freight transport marks 20% growth in tonne-kilometres travelled at a quarterly level while at the annual level a growth of 14 % was recorded. At the same time, a 4 % fall was recorded in the number of passenger- kilometres travelled at quarterly level as well as a 2% growth in comparison to the second quarter of 2014.
