Meeting of the President of the Council of HAKOM, Mr. Dražen Lučić, with the ITU-D Director, Mr. Brahim Sanouo

The topics of the meeting included the existing and future cooperation between ITU and HAKOM, and ITU Director took this opportunity to thank HAKOM, as a representative of the Republic of Croatia, for its support provided to ITU, in particular in relation to the organization of regulatory gatherings at the international level.
ZAGREB, 16 May 2016 – The President of the Council of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM-a), Mr. Dražen Lučić, participated last week at the Global Symposium for Regulators – GSR held in Sharm El Sheikhu, in Egypt. At the margins of this event, which gathered around a thousand representatives of regulatory authorities, international institutions and associations, government bodies, academic community and the economy as well as representatives of the media from all continents, a one-hour meeting took place between the President of the Croatian regulatory authority and one of the heads of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Mr. Brahime Sanoua, the Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector - ITU-D.
The topics of the meeting included the existing and future cooperation between ITU and HAKOM, and ITU Director took this opportunity to thank HAKOM, as a representative of the Republic of Croatia, for its support provided to ITU, in particular in relation to the organization of regulatory gatherings at the international level (GSR, WRC, WTDC, PP,...) and, among other events, the International Girls in ICT Day. They also discussed future cooperation with a special emphasis on the Global Symposium for Regulators GSR17 and the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 (WTDC2017). They stressed HAKOM’s contribution to topics such as cyber security, NN, IoT, M2M, international roaming and socially useful applications.
HAKOM’s President, Mr. Dražen Lučić, used this meeting to repeat the problems faced by Croatia concerning the interferences from the neighbouring Italy and to thank for the support and trust provided to the Croatian regulatory authority by this international organization. ITU-D Director was also invited to visit Croatia with his associates.
