Public Call for applications for the allocation of the number 116 000.

HAKOM published a public call for the allocation of number 116 000 for the hotline for missing children

ZAGREB, 2 May 2022 – The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has published a public call for the allocation of the number 116 000 providing free service to children (at risk) go missing, The 116 000 hotline receives the calls forwarding it to the police, simultaneously offering support and assistance to all involved in case of child disappearance, providing them with the assistance in the investigation.

However, this implies allocation of a number which is part of the numbering range 116, intended for services of social importance, i.e. for services with special social sensitivity (Harmonised European short number). This numbering range is part of the European Regulation which aims to achieve the purpose of “same number - same service” throughout the European Union, i.e. to make services of social importance available through identical, easily identifiable telephone numbers in all EU countries. In this respect, five 116 XXX format numbers have been reserved for individual services of social importance.
