BEREC adopted the Guidelines on Very High Capacity Networks and launched a Public Consultation on the 2021 Work Programme.
During the latest plenary meeting, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) adopted the Guidelines on very High Capacity Networks (VHCN) and launched a public consultation for its 2021 Work Programme.
ZAGREB, 7 October 2020 - Annemarie Sipkes, Director of the Telecommunications, Transport and Postal Services Department at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) will chair the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) in 2022, and in addition to the election of new leaders, BEREC adopted the Guidelines on Very High Capacity Networks (VHCN) at its plenary meeting and launched its work programme for 2021 to the public consultation.
The draft Work Programme focuses on the three priorities: promoting full connectivity, supporting sustainable and open digital markets and empowering the end-users. The key policy objective in 2021 is to ensure the timely availability of Very High Capacity Networks and 5G services. Through cooperation with other institutions, BEREC will contribute to insuring future network technologies meeting their connectivity objectives in line with the European values and interests, such as security, end-user protection, etc. The document is on public consultation. BEREC's draft Work Programme 2021 will also be presented at the annual Stakeholder Forum on 19 October 2020 and BEREC invites stakeholders and the media to register for virtual participation.
During the plenary meeting, BEREC adopted the Guidelines for VHCN (Very Large Capacity Networks). The document refers to the criteria the network must meet to be considered a Very High Capacity Network.
