HAKOM at the SRD/MG Working Group Meeting

The most important topics of the meeting refer to the development of technical harmonization of radio spectrum for the use of short-range devices.

 
ZAGREB, December 10, 2015 – The 66th meeting of the Working group on short-range devices was held in Mainz (Short Range Devices/Maintenance Group - SRD / MG) being responsible within the European Union for the technical harmonization of radio spectrum for the use of short-range devices resulting in a market worth 50 billion EUR. On the basis of their research the Working group evaluated the requirements and possibilities of the future use of valuable and limited RF spectrum resources. The Working group discussed the improvement of the regulation in order to encourage further innovation and explain the existing market regulation to the participants or how to provide information regarding the national implementations indicating the possible usage of the corresponding frequency ranges.
 
The most important topics of the meeting were drafting the CEPT report 59 whose aim is the development of the technical harmonisation of RF spectrum for the use of short-range devices, including the discussion on received comments or requests for the RF spectrum, based on the compatibility study related to the annexes to the Recommendation 70-03. At the meeting there were discussions about the possibilities for the harmonization of bands 870-876 and 915-921 MHz, the regulation for UHF RFID application and the use of 1900-1920 MHz band. The discussion included cognitive devices, systems associated with the applications in traffic and transportation, 5GHz RLAN devices, helicopter radar applications and many other applications.
 
At the meeting there were 40 participants from 20 countries, the representatives of regulatory authorities, industry and international organizations. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) was represented by Tomislav Bartolec, expert for R & TT equipment at HAKOM.
