NEWS

The aim of this meeting was to exchange present experiences on Spectrum allocation of the 800 MHz band (the first digital dividend), as well as on the future plans in the entire UHF range and other ranges intended for broadband.

BLED, 20 May 2015- Slovenian regulator ATOS organized a two-day European regulators’ meeting on the future of 700 MhZ band (second digital dividend) in Bled. HAKOM’s representative Mrs. Ivancica Saskal, Head of the Radio Communications Department participated at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of other regulators from Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovenia, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the European Commission. The aim of the meeting was to exchange present experiences on Spectrum allocation of 800 MHz band (the first digital dividend), as well as on the future plans in the entire UHF range and other ranges intended for broadband access.

Various possibilities of the allocation of 700 MHz band for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PDDR) were discussed , especially the possibilities of mutual use of commercial operators’ networks and the previously mentioned systems. Just like in Europe, this is an issue with no unitary position, therefore all possibilities will be discussed on the national level. Since these are very complex issues and are planned to be solved within an extended period of time, the information exchanged at the meeting will be very useful in further shaping of attitudes on that issue.
