Recovery of the postal services market

On the Croatian postal services market, in the third quarter the growth has been recorded in almost all segments of the market after the fall in the first and second quarters.
 
ZAGREB, 10 December 2020 – After the two consecutive quarters have recorded negative trends in the postal services market, primarily as a result of reduced economic activity caused by coronavirus, the market is slowly returning to normal in the third quarter of this year. In relation to the previous quarter, almost all indicators are growing, but it should be noted that it will take some time to return to previous levels, as compared to last year's summer period the total number of postal items has dropped. A total of 67.7 million postal services was recorded, which is 6.1 percent more than in the previous quarter, but also 9.4 less than in the same period of the previous year. The biggest impact on the overall growth in the total number of services was the increase in letter mails, which grew by 6.6 per cent compared to the second quarter of the year. Demand for parcel services, most generated by the Internet commerce, has not continued to the same extent as in the second quarter reaching its peak and the number of parcels recorded 4% fall. The total market generated HRK 442.7 million in revenues, which is an increase of 0.8 percent in relation to the previous quarter.

The number of providers performing postal services on the market has not changed.  One of the providers has ceased its  operations, but a new one has emerged so 22 providers are still operating out of which HP-Croatian Post Inc. is the largest with 82.1 percent share.
