ZAGREB, June 18, 2018 - The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency of the European Commission (INEA) has decided to cancel the first call for applications on the WiFi4EU initiative launched on May 15. After a thorough check it was concluded that due to technical errors the applicants could not register under the same conditions. The European Commission is committed to the fairness and reliability of the competition procedure.
The portal will resume its activities after IT developments are complete. In addition those who have already registered will not have to re-register. The date of re-opening of the portal and the date of the next call will be announced by e-mail. A new call for applications will be launched in the autumn 2018, (exact date to be announced).
Regarding the number of municipalities and cities interested in Wi-Fi coupons the Republic of Croatia is at the very top. The Republic of Croatia has a rate of 70.9 %, (410 municipalities and cities) registered at the first call. Only Malta pops up with the rate of (97.1 percent) and Bulgaria with (86 percent).The Danes showed little interest, only 1.3 percent of their municipalities and cities have applied.
