Zagreb, 9 November 2016 – The meetings of two working groups are taking place this Wednesday, 9 November, in Brussels. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries is represented at the meetings by a legal affair expert, Ana Šubat Perković.  The topic of the meeting of the Telecommunications and Information Society Working Group is a Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on roaming on public mobile communications networks within the Union. The discussions at the meeting will include a proposal on amendments to this regulation regulating wholesale roaming services. The adoption of this regulation is a necessary precondition for the elimination of retail roaming charges in July 2017.

The working group in charge of postal services will also meet in Brussels today. The topic of this meeting is the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on cross-border parcel delivery services published by the European Commission in May 2016 and submitted to ordinary legislative procedure. The Proposal for this Regulation is adopted as one of the measures of the Digital Single Market Strategy (DSM) that will enable private and business users in the EU to benefit from all the advantages of the EU single market, to buy and sell goods and services online more efficiently as a result of increased transparency of prices, elimination of cross-border barriers and administrative restrictions, improvement of regulatory supervision over cross-border parcel delivery and measures for the elimination of potential unfair commercial practices in the digital environment.
