HAKOM Participated at This Year’s First BEREC Contact Group Meeting in Krakow

NEWS

The main objective of the meeting is the preparation for the 26th regular BEREC Plenary Meeting, to be held between 24 and 26 February 2016, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

ZAGREB, February 5, 2016 - Following the invitation of the organizer of the Polish regulatory authority UKE (Urzędu Komunikacji Electronicznej) this year's first BEREC Contact Group Meeting (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications) took place in Krakow on 4 and 5 February.

The main objective of the meeting was the preparation of the 26th regular BEREC Plenary meeting to be held in Rotterdam from 24 to 26 February, 2016. It was expected from the Contact Group to discuss the topics that will be the focus of the next plenary meeting such as the upcoming review of the regulatory framework, the topic on the Internet of Things - IoT, OTT service providers as well as the activities related to the roaming market aimed at implementing the calls at national call rates (Rome Like at Home - RLAH) in mid-June 2017. At the meeting, the prepared BEREC documentation was discussed while  the final version will be concluded at the plenary meeting. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) was represented by Marko Čavlović, Deputy Director at HAKOM and Natalija Boltužić, Council Secretary at HAKOM.

Among the documents which will be forwarded to the plenary meeting in order to be approved for publication it is necessary to single out three documents in which HAKOM’s experts actively participate. One of the documents is related to the Internet of Things - IoT. The document’s title has been changed from "Report on Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Communications" in 2015 into the "Report on Enabling Internet of Things", implemented in order to expand the scope of the analysis from M2M into IoT  since Iot is much wider term. M2M / IoT report will provide a comprehensive overview of M2M / IoT services and give preliminary consideration to the possible regulatory issues. The second document refers to a parallel (Benchmark) report on roaming. This document will contain data for all EEA (European Economic Area) countries on traffic volumes and prices of roaming services. The third document refers to a parallel report on OTT indicators. The objective of this report is to define a set of indicators for OTT services according to which the  ranking can be made.
