Zagreb, 29 November 2016 – In cooperation with the Rijeka County Chamber of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) organized the 5th Round Table on the topic of the "Rijeka Transport Route" which took place this Tuesday, 29 November, at the premises of the Croatian Chamber of Economy in Zagreb.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Port of Rijeka Plc, the Rijeka Port Authority, the Jadranska Vrata Ltd. and the Association for Intermodal Transport and Logistics with the HGK. The purpose of the Round Table was to coordinate the activities of all actors on the rail services market, in particular to coordinate the working hours of all institutions in the Port of Rijeka with a view to improving the competitiveness of the Port of Rijeka and its role in the rail freight transport.

The need to organize the 5th Round Table, which was organized as a thematic meeting, appeared after the 4th Round Table, and the meeting with representatives of the HGK, the Rijeka Port Authority, the Port of Rijeka, the Association for Intermodal Transport and Logistics at the HGK and the Jadranska Vrata d.d. in June 2016.  The meeting also included the presentation of conclusions reached at a meeting organized by the HGK in Zagreb in May 2016. Both meetings came essentially to the same conclusions and referred to problems resulting from different working hours of institutions which are of key importance for the process of organization and execution of transport, such as the customs, and phytosanitary, veterinary and sanitary inspections. HAKOM therefore initiated the process of resolution of the above-mentioned problem of different working hours by organizing meetings with the competent ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture, which is competent for phytosanitary and veterinary inspection and the Ministry of Health, competent for sanitary inspection. The participants of the 5th Round Table first presented their opinions and views of the above-mentioned issues, which was followed by a discussion and the adoption of conclusions.
