The Presentation of Child Safety Policies on the Internet and in the World of Network Technologies

The programme whose objective is to educate the  primary school children by providing necessary information to their parents about responsible behaviour when using the network technologies was presented at the premises of the Ministry of Science and Education.

ZAGREB, 30 November 2016 – The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), Ministry of Science and Education and Sports, Ministry of the Interior and the Croatian Post presented the programme for child safety  on the Internet and  in the world of network technology in the business premises of the  Ministry of Science and Education. The first programme brochure entitled "How to protect the child in the world of Internet, network technologies and mobile phones" was presented. The brochure contains practical and helpful advice regarding the risk and safety on the Internet, privacy and personal data, behaviour and the use of social networks.

The programme is aimed at helping the primary school children by providing necessary information to their parents about responsible behaviour when using the network technologies in a period when children start using it without permanent supervision by their parents.. The programme will be implemented in a way that all 5th grade students in Croatia are provided with special brochure adapted to the development of network technologies, Internet safety, behaviour policy and prevention of cyberbullying.

This project aimed at the youngest and most vulnerable population was welcomed by Jo Kempen, Executive Director of Corporate Communications HP Croatian Post, Dražen Lučić, President of the Council at HAKOM, Hrvoje Šlezak, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Education. Three presentations were held within the scope of the programme. Ivo Majerski, Head of information and protection of users at HAKOM presented the topic  related to  children in the world of Internet, network technologies and mobile phone  and the topic entitled “Media Literacy and children in the world of Internet, network technologies and mobile phone“ was presented by Igor Kanižaj from  the Faculty of Political Sciences of Zagreb. Ivana Modrić Zelić, from the prevention department of the Interior Ministry discussed about the preventive activities of the Interior Ministry in the field of Internet Security.
