What is radio equipment?
Radio Equipment: An electrical or electronic product designed to intentionally transmit and/or receive radio waves for radio communication or radio determination purposes. This also includes products that require an accessory, such as an antenna, to intentionally transmit and/or receive radio waves for these purposes.Radio Communication: Communication achieved through the transmission of radio waves.
Radio Determination: The process of determining the position, speed, or other characteristics of an object, or obtaining information about these parameters, by utilising the properties of radio wave propagation.
Radio Frequency Spectrum: Electromagnetic waves with frequencies below 3000 GHz, capable of propagating through space without artificial guidance.
Essential Requirements
Pursuant to Article 5 of the Radio Equipment Regulation (OG 56/24) radio equipment must comply with the following essential requirements:
1.Requirements for the protection of health and safety of people and animals, as well as the protection of property, including safety requirements in accordance with specific regulations governing electrical equipment intended for use within certain voltage limits, but without the application of voltage restrictions.
2. Protective requirements for electromagnetic compatibility in accordance with specific regulations governing the area of electromagnetic compatibility.
3. Requirements related to the design and manufacture of radio equipment that effectively uses the radio frequency spectrum and supports the efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum to avoid harmful interference.
4.Requirements concerning the capability to operate with accessories, particularly universal chargers; compatibility for networking with other devices and connecting to appropriate interfaces; the protection of electronic communication networks from potential misuse, interference, or unacceptable service degradation; safeguarding personal data and privacy for subscribers and service users; measures to prevent abuse and fraud; provision of access to emergency services; facilitation of use for people with disabilities; and assurance that software can be installed in radio equipment, where compliance of the combination of radio equipment and software has been clearly demonstrated, in line with relevant decisions of the European Commission."
The Role and Jurisdiction of HAKOM
In accordance with the provisions of the Radio Equipment Regulations, HAKOM is responsible for:
- determining and publicly disclosing information about regulated radio interfaces in the Republic of Croatia;
- reporting to the European Commission on radio interfaces regulated in line with specific legislation governing official notification procedures in the field of technical regulations and information society services;
- inspection monitoring
