HAKOM at a Workshop on Improving the Competitiveness of Railways in the Danube Region

The main topics of the two-day workshop, held in Ljubljana, were related to the railway legislation, challenges facing the  rail freight transport as well as the challenges facing the railway passenger transport in the Danube region.
  
ZAGREB, 22 November 2016 – Following the invitation of the organizer, the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana, a two-day workshop on improving the competitiveness of railways in the Danube region was held. The meeting was attended by experts from the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) Dragica Flam, Senior Railway Affairs Expert and Kristijan Solina, Railway Affairs Expert. 

It was a workshop consisting of three parts and the main topics were: railway legislation - support or obstacle for competitiveness of railways, challenges in freight rail transport as well as challenges in the railway passenger transport in the Danube region. Violeta Bulc, the European Commissioner for Transport and Mobility gave an introductory speech to the participants while other speakers were representatives of the European Commission of the relevant ministries from Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia as well as the  representatives of infrastructure managers and railway carriers.
