HAKOM at the Meeting of TCAM Committee and the TCAM Working Group

The most important topics of the meeting were  related to the Digital Single  Market of radio equipment, the ICT standardization, lack of harmonized standards which cover  the requirements of  new Radio Equipment Directive,  a variety of new radio equipment for the Internet of Things and the application of  Radio Equipment Directive.
 
ZAGREB, November 4, 2016 - The 44th regular meeting of Telecommunications Conformity Assessment and Market Surveillance Committee was held in Brussels as well as the 10th TCAM  Working group meeting. TCAM is an advisory and regulatory committee which assists the European Commission with regard to conformity assessment and market surveillance of radio equipment.
 
At the Meeting of TCAM Committee, the issues related to the  Digital Single Market (DSM) for radio equipment were discussed as well as the  ICT standardization, the Internet of Things (IoT), ePrivacy, software radio equipment, the  lack of harmonized standards that cover the requirements of the new Directive and EASA regulations. Among other things, the issues discussed at the meeting were the transposition of Directive, the RED manual and the applicability of the Directive on radio equipment, the decision which obliges the manufacturers to inform the users about limitation of use of equipment, the unique chargers and  RED applicability regarding the proposal of EASA regulations. Moreover, the participants were introduced to the activities and results of connected committees, associations related to conformity assessment, the authorities responsible for market surveillance, standardization bodies and representatives of the beneficiaries of radio equipment.
 
The representatives of the EU Member States took part in the meeting while the industry representatives took part in the work of  TCAM Working group  such as the: Cable Europe, CECED, Digital Europe, Orgalime,  GSMA,  IMF, the IARU, LPRA, standardization bodies CENELEC, ETSI, as well as the representatives of associations of notified bodies  RED CA, consumer associations, ANEC and the ECC representatives. Tomislav Bartolec, Senior Expert for RiTT equipment attended the meeting on behalf of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries.
