HAKOM the Second Meeting of the Future Internet Forum (FIF)

In Brussels, the Future Internet Forum's second meeting  was held, were among other things the most important topics were  related to the 5G technology, cloud computing (Cloud), Internet of Things (IoT) and NGI (Next Generation Internet). by HAKOM's Executive director Mario Weber took part in the meeting.
  
ZAGREB, 17 November 2016 – Within the scope of“ Horizon of 2020˝ (the EU Research and Innovation Programme for the period from 2014 to 202), the  second meeting of the Future Internet Forum (FIF) was held in in Brussels on Wednesday, 16 November. The Future Internet Forum is composed of representatives of 28 EU Member States and 11 countries in the accession negotiations thus representing the future of the Internet at the national level. The Forum meets twice a year in order for members to share their knowledge, experience and best practices identifying key national actors, activities and institutions. In addition, the meetings are trying to devise common approaches to specific issues and to identify complementarities among different frameworks. The group is expected, by way of considered opinions, recommendations or reports, to provide information on relevant objectives and scientific, technological and innovation programmes, activities and priorities, and to share good practices and roadmaps.
 
The most important topics of  H2020 FIF group were 5G technology, cloud computing (Cloud), Internet of Things (IoT) and NGI (Next Generation Internet). In the first part of the meeting, the representatives of the European Commission gave a brief overview of the previous activities in these areas, while the other is used for “brainstorming” where the representatives of the Member States were divided into four groups. Mario Weber, Executive Director at the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) took part in the meeting as the representative of the Republic of Croatia and a member of the Future Internet Forum.
