Net Neutrality Guidelines will be Soon Known

NEWS

On August 25, the BEREC plenary meeting will be held on Net Neutrality Guidelines which will be presented to the EU citizens at a press conference on August 30.

Zagreb, 24 August 2016 - BEREC (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications) organized a press conference on BEREC Guidelines for the implementation of the obligations of  national regulatory authorities (hereinafter: BEREC guidelines on network neutrality), in accordance with Regulation ( EU) 2015/2120 on establishing measures concerning open Internet access (hereinafter: the Regulation on network neutrality). The conference will be held on August 30, 2016 in Brussels and the outcome of the public discussion and the final text of the guidelines will be presented there. All interested parties are free to attend the Conference with the possibility to ask questions to the Chair and Vice-Chair of BEREC. A prior registration, via the following link, is necessary to participate at the conference.

However, in July, public discussion on the draft BEREC Guidelines on network neutrality was completed in order to monitor and ensure the provisions of Regulation on network neutrality by means of which the open Internet is being protected. The BEREC Guidelines are required primarily for the consistent application of Regulation on network neutrality but also to facilitate the demanding task to the national regulatory authorities during the implementation. BEREC is currently in the procedure of processing the received contributions, nearly half a million of them as well as finalisation of the Guidelines, which should be presented to the plenary meeting of BEREC August 25, 2016.

The Press Conference can be followed via BEREC internet website http://berec.europa.eu/ (web streaming will be provided on the homepage at 2 PM) and the questions will be delivered via Twitter using # BERECNN or by e-mail at press@berec.europa.eu.
