The first Croatian Forum on Internet Governance was held

The first Croatian Forum on Internet Governance (IGF) took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, 6 May.
 
ZAGREB, May 7, 2015 – The first Croatian Forum on Internet Governance (IGF ) organized by HAKOM in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the University of Zagreb, was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb yesterday. The participants of the forum were warmly welcomed on behalf of the host by Zdravko Jukic, the Member of the Council and prof. Gordan Gledec, PhD, Member of the Board at FER and President of DNS Committee.
 
The main topic of the forum was “The Management of the Internet domains” while a brief presentation, an introduction into discussion with the participants of the forum was given by , Natasa Glavor, Assistant Director( CARNet). The questions related to the Internet domains, like the Amendments to the Ordinance on the Organisation and Management of the National Top-level Domain were answered in the discussion by Natasa Glavor and prof. Gledec.
 
Another topic of the forum was “The Internet Governance” where the introductory presentation was held by Mislav Hebel MSc., from HAKOM and Andrea Beccalli from ICANN. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion led by Ana Katalinić Mucalo, Ph D, from HAKOM while the presenters of the panel session were Krešo Antonović, Head of Directorate for Electronic Communications and Postal Services at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Marko Jurić PhD, Senior Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Hrvoje Hadzic, Head of Innovation Management Programme for Ericsson Nikola Tesla company and Zdravko Jukic, Member of the Council (HAKOM). The importance of an open forum on Internet Governance issues as well as the opportunities that such forum could give to all interested parties were only some of the issues discussed.

It was concluded that the forum, as an appropriate platform for an open discussion on various Internet issues, is a good idea and it is also a model for an open participation for all members of the society including the representatives of academia, industry, state authorities , civil society and Internet users and as such should be supported.
