As the outgoing Chair of BEREC, HAKOM organised a quadrilateral summit on the future of electronic communications and regulation

ZAGREB, 10 March 2025 - Organised by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and led by the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) as the outgoing Chair of BEREC, a quadrilateral summit was held in Barcelona last week, focusing on future trends in electronic communications and regulation.

The event brought together key regulatory networks: BEREC, the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg), the Euro-Mediterranean Regulatory Group (EMERG), and the Latin American Forum of Telecommunications Regulators (REGULATEL). The Spanish regulator CNMC hosted the summit, and representatives from the European Commission, the OECD, RSPG, and the Indian regulator (TRAI) also participated.

During the panels, moderated by Tonko Obuljen, regulators exchanged valuable experiences and discussed key topics, including:
  • New technological trends in electronic communications
  • Challenges in consumer protection in the context of new technological trends and digitalisation
  • The role of regulators in the future regulation of electronic communications.
