Grant Contract for Implementation of NP-BBI Programme signed

The programme includes the deployment of passive fibre-optic infrastructure to targeted settlements in suburban and rural areas.

Zagreb, 14 December 2020 – At the end of the last week, the contract “Deployment of National Broadband Aggregation Infrastructure and Connection of Targeted Public Users” was signed and delivered among the Ministry of Regional Development and the EU Funds, Central Finance and Contracting Agency and Transmitters and Communications (OiV) as the beneficiary of funds and carrier of the NP-BBI programme.  

The beginning of construction of the national broadband aggregation infrastructure of the next generation (NP-BBI) includes the construction of passive optical infrastructure to targeted settlements in suburban and rural areas, and the construction is expected of passive optical sections with a length greater than five thousand kilometres. Within the mentioned settlements, public institutions will be present, i.e. national, regional and local government offices and branches, including educational, health, cultural, tourist and judicial institutions. The total financial resources for the implementation of this programme amount to 101,4 million EUR, out of which 85%of will be financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), while the remaining 15% will be provided by the Republic of Croatia in the form of state aid.
