ZAGREB, 12 March 2021 - Compliant to Article 27 of Act on the Regulation of Rail Services Market and the Protection of the Passenger Rights in Rail Transport (OG 104/17),  the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) conducted regular consultations to examine the satisfaction of users with the rail service.

The consultation was carried out by interviewing railway users through predefined online questionnaires, which were published and available to rail users during November and December 2020. The number of 1635 passengers and 26 railway freight users participated in the survey. Service users evaluated the quality of accessibility, the transportation quality service and the compliance of transport operators and infrastructure managers.

Following the liberalisation of the rail freight market in the Republic of Croatia, 10 active undertakings and only one railway passenger undertaking operated during 2020.

The conclusions of the consultations define guidelines on the biggest deficiencies of the rail passenger and freight transport service, but also on the advantages that rail transport has. All the above- mentioned can serve as guidelines for undertakings to improve their services.
