HAKOM holds forum on future of UHF band

HAKOM has organised the “Forum on the future of the UHF band (second digital dividend and digital terrestrial television)”. The gathering aimed at informing and initiating discussion about the future use of the UHF frequency band, the second digital dividend and the needs, perspectives and possibilities for the development of television, i.e. mobile communications and other services in the frequency band which is currently used by television.
ZAGREB, 6 May 2014 – The Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) held the “Forum on the future of the UHF band (second digital dividend and digital terrestrial television)” at Hotel Antunović. The forum gathered the representatives of electronic communications market and the media, bodies of state administration, the economy and research community with the aim to inform and initiate discussions about the future use of the UHF frequency band, the second digital dividend and about the needs, perspectives and possibilities of development of television, i.e. mobile communications and other services within the 470 – 790 MHz range.
The forum was divided in two sessions. During the first session, HAKOM introduced the basic information about the second digital dividend. The representatives of terrestrial digital television network operator, Odašiljači i veze d.o.o. and the representatives of mobile communication networks used this opportunity to present their opinion on the UHF band usage. The Agency for Electronic Media was the moderator at the round table where the preparation and allocation of the second digital dividend and the media needs in the Republic of Croatia were the topics of discussion. Also, new technologies and trends and their future in the UHF band were discussed.
