The Member of the Council of HAKOM PhD Nikola Popović was unanimously appointed Vice-Chair of IRG Rail in 2021 and the Chair of IRG Rail in 2022

 
ZAGREB, 20 November 2020 – On 17 and 18 November 2020, under the presidency of the Belgian regulator, a plenary meeting of Independent Regulators’ Group -Rail was held. Attended The representatives of HAKOM attended the meeting as well.

At the meeting the working groups’ tasks were presented as well as the sub-groups in 2020 through the reports. In addition the voting was carried out. A new 2021-2024 Work Strategy has been adopted, aimed at strengthening the existing cooperation and communication between regulatory authorities by creating stability in the rail services market. Also, the 2021 Work Programme was presented and accepted where certain activities of the current year were included, which were not carried out due to SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

The Member of the Council of HAKOM PhD Nikola Popović has been unanimously appointed co-chairman of 2021 IRG Rail, when the Austrian regulator is co- presiding and the chairman of IRG Rail   in 2022 when Croatian regulator will be presiding.

IRG Rail was established in 2011 bringing together regulators of 31 European countries with the aim of uniformly applying the regulatory framework of the European Union and exchanging experiences and expertise. According to this election the long-term commitment of HAKOM was recognized as well as contribution to working bodies and IRG Rail working group.
