The Deadline for 5G Spectrum Allocation postponed

NEWS

Previous plans for radio spectrum allocation intended foe 5G (700 MHz, 3.6 GHz and 26 GHz) were scheduled for the end of 2020, as it was announced in standpoints after public discussion on the future allocation of 700 MHz, 1500 MHz, 3.6 GHz and 26 GHz frequency bands. The 5G spectrum will be allocated in the first half of 2021.

Zagreb, 24 June 2020 - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the measures adopted to fight the pandemic on social and economic activities, the transition to DVB-T2/HEVC, was planned for the first half of this year. It has been postponed for the second half of the year, thus shifting the allocation of 700 MHz band for broadband wireless access. The new circumstances also affected the operators who had to adapt their investment plans. Therefore HAKOM decided to postpone 5G spectrum allocation through public auction for the first half of 2021, taking into account all of the above mentioned. More information on the new deadline regarding public auction will be published by HAKOM after reviewing all new circumstances that may influence the allocation of this spectrum and the public discussion.
