The growing demand for parcel services continues into the third quarter of 2024.

Parcel services record an increase of over 20% compared to the same period last year

ZAGREB, 16 December 2024 - The Croatian postal services market continued to experience growth in the number of parcel services during the third quarter of this year. During this period, a total of 11.4 million parcel services were completed representing an increase of 20.4% compared to the same period last year, and a 4.4% rise compared to the previous quarter.

The growth in parcel numbers also resulted in an increased market share for parcel services, which grew to 19%—an increase of 3.2 percentage points compared to the same period the previous year, marking the highest share to date. Meanwhile, there was a decline in the volume of letters and printed materials, aligning global trends in the postal sector.

The heightened demand for parcel services, driven by the growth of online shopping, is expected to continue in the upcoming period. Furthermore, the increase in parcel volumes had a positive impact on overall postal service revenues, which reached €93 million in the third quarter of 2024—a rise of nearly 22% compared to the same period last year.

An increase was also reported in cross-border services, which grew by 14% compared to the third quarter of 2023. These now account for 9.4% of total traffic, the highest share recorded in recent quarters.

The Croatian postal services market currently has 23 service providers, with HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. maintaining its dominant position, holding nearly 54% of revenue and 82.6% of services delivered.
