A Workshop on Assisting Persons with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility During Train Travel
ZAGREB, 12 September 2024 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) at the University of Zagreb, organised a workshop on Thursday, 12 September. .The aim was to educate employees of HŽ Putnički Prijevoz and HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. on how to assist persons with disabilities and reduced mobility during train travel.
This initiative is part of HAKOM's Accessibility 2024 project, which aims to support both the passenger transport undertakings and station managers in enhancing accessibility for rail passengers. The workshop is the result of in-depth analysis and research, with the involvement of Croatian associations for persons with disabilities. Their involvement was essential in identifying and raising awareness of the real needs of people with disabilities, something that would not have been possible without their support.
Looking ahead, further improvements are planned through ongoing collaboration, along with the completion of educational materials. These resources will be made available to HŽ Putnički prijevoz and HŽ Infrastruktura for use in future training sessions for their staff.
