Conference on the Electronics Communication Technologies COM 2019

HAKOM's experts participated in lectures, workshops and panel discussions

ZAGREB, November 25, 2019 - A conference on electronics communications technologies COM 2019 was held in Zagreb on November 25 and 26.  Leading domestic and foreign experts in the field of electronics communications technologies participated in lectures, workshops and panel discussions. The topics of this year's conference were "Networks and Network Technologies", "Telecommunication and Services Development", "Network Management and Solutions" and "Network Security and Protection".

Ana Katalinić Mucalo, HAKOM’s Assistant Director greeted the audience  and opened the conference and lecture  on  “The State of the Electronic Communications Market in Croatia”  was held by Marko Čavlović, Senior Expert at HAKOM's Market Economics Department. Specifically, HAKOM regularly collects and publishes data and indicators on the electronics communications postal and rail services market, and the presentation provides an overview of the main data and indicators in the electronics communications market in the Republic of Croatia, with emphasis on the achieved investments, revenues and the presence of Broadband Internet access.

“5G Deployment Project” was the topic of a presentation by Gordan Šimac, Chief Expert at RF Spectrum Management. The presentation provides an overview of the time and legislative framework relevant for the introduction of 5G technologies at the EU and RH levels, including regulatory conditions for the usage of 5G frequency bands, the identification of 5G cities and the testing of 5G technologies.  Issues and identification of challenges in the introduction of 5G technologies in the Republic of Croatia were also the topics such as the implementation of short-range access points, cooperation with local government units and the allocation of radio frequency spectrum.

On the first day of the conference, HAKOM's experts also participated in a panel discussion on "What brings 5G?" The discussion topics were as follows he impact of technology on health and the economy. The panel discussion was moderated by Ana Katalinić Mucalo together with Gordan Šimac (HAKOM), Winton Afrić (University of Split), Željko Popović (Ericsson Nikola Tesla) and Dina Šimunić (FER / IEEE).
