European Commission Invests €140 Million in the Development of Key Digital Technologies – Open Calls under the Digital Europe Programme

ZAGREB, 18 April 2025 - On 15 April 2025, the European Commission launched four new calls for proposals, with a total budget of €140 million, under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL), focusing on:
  • the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into public administration and the agri-food sector,
  • strengthening advanced digital skills,
  • expanding the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs),
  • combating disinformation.
These funds are aimed at the development and deployment of key digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital skills, and projects that facilitate better use of digital solutions in public administration and industry.

The funding will support projects in strategically important areas for the European Union’s digital sovereignty, including European data spaces, the European blockchain service, digital public services, and support for national and local digital transformation initiatives.

The deadline for submitting applications is 2 September 2025. Eligible applicants include public bodies, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), digital innovation hubs, educational institutions, and other organisations from EU Member States and associated countries.
