HAKOM hosted the 73rd meeting of the Project Team FM44— Satellite Communications
Zagreb, 15 May 2023 Following the invitation of the organizer, the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), the 73 rd meeting of the project team FM44 — Satellite Communications was held in Zagreb from 9 to 11 May 2023. The Project Team FM44-Satellite Communications is responsible for preparing the regulatory framework and organizing the use of radio spectrum intended for satellite service within the scope of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) under the jurisdiction of the Working Group Frequency Management (WGFM).
The meeting was attended by around 60 representatives of European regulators, industry and international organizations. The most interesting topics referred to the use of radiofrequency (RF) spectrum for the complementary ground component (CGC) of mobile satellite networks in the 2 GHz frequency band, the protection of radio-astronomical stations and aircraft navigation devices, the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) via satellites, and the provision of direct connection of mobile devices and satellites (D2D). At the end of the meeting of the FM44 project team, an additional meeting was held by the representatives of the EU countries. The latest version of the draft administrative agreement USC/IRIS2 (Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite) was presented as well.
