HAKOM in Vukovar and Vinkovci held educational workshops on child online protection
Zagreb, 30 March 2023 — In cooperation with the Consumer Protection Center of Vukovar-Srijem County “Voice of Consumers”, HAKOM held a series of educational workshops for elementary school students this week, as part of its regular user protection activities, including the protection of children and young people as the most vulnerable groups of users of electronic communications. Regarding the fourth and fifth grade students, interesting lectures were held on the topic “Protection of children in the world of Internet and mobile phones”, and HAKOM’s experts visited four Slavonian elementary schools, namely Antun Bauer Ground School and Siniša Glavašević Ground School in Vukovar, as well as at the Primary School Bartol Kašić and Primary School Vladimir Nazor in Vinkovci.
The programme of educating pupils and parents about child safety on the Internet has been implemented by HAKOM since 2016. The programme was launched with the aim of educating elementary schoolchildren and their parents about responsible behaviour when using network technologies, primarily the Internet, and it is implemented on several levels. Every year, all students of the fifth grade of primary schools in the Republic of Croatia receive a special brochure on online safety, rules of conduct, prevention of cyberbullying, as well as useful advice on the currently popular social networks, the use of which is widespread among children. In addition, educational workshops for parents are held as part of this project. During the workshops, HAKOM’s experts present the information to parents about responsible behaviour when using network technologies at the moment when children start using them on their own without constant adult supervision.
