HAKOM: Remarkable Parcel Growth in the Postal Services Market

PRESS RELEASE

In the second quarter of 2019, the 8.8% growth in parcel delivery services was recorded compared to the previous quarter and 14.7% growth in the same period of the previous year.

ZAGREB, September 30, 2019 - The postal services market in the Republic of Croatia and the second quarter of 2019 recorded a continued increase in the number of parcel deliveries. In total, 5.9 million parcel services were realized. The results have led to an increase in the number of parcels in all postal services they offer in their e-shops. The increase in the number of transferred parcels has also led to an increase in the share of these services in the total postal market. The parcels currently occupy 7.7 % of the market, which is about 1% more than in the same period last year. The increase in the number of parcels also resulted in an increase in total revenues, so that they were 7 % or 13 % higher than in the previous quarter. The total number of postal services, primarily the transmission of postal items, decreased slightly, both compared to the previous quarter (-4.3 percent) and compared to the same period of the previous year (-1.2 percent).

The number of postal service providers hasn’t changed. Therefore at the end of the second quarter of 2019, there were 22 providers, the largest among them is Hrvatska Pošta d.d. with a share of about 84 percent in the market.
