In Dalmatia, the safety of air and maritime transport will be increased and better measurements of radio spectrum will be performed

The passive antenna system, which is being installed in Split, is of utmost importance for protecting citizen security.

Zagreb, 12 June 2023 After Osijek, Zagreb and Rijeka, Split will finally get a fully efficient control-measuring system that will better measure the  radio spectrum than before. It is a receiving antenna system, and the works on staging and repositioning of the antenna system started in early June and are coming to an end soon. The Pillar has been installed within HAKOM’s branch office in the Split County Visoka, and it refers to a system through which the control of radio spectrum will be performed as well as measuring, testing and identification of the causes of interference in the RF spectrum and taking the prescribed measures for their removal. This system is of great importance in air and maritime transport, since it enables a rapid reaction in identifying and eliminating possible disturbances that aircraft and craft may have when they find themselves in unforeseen situations and need assistance.

So far, such a system has been temporarily installed on the building of the Croatian Post in Kopilica, but due to its construction and insufficient height of the building it could not fully cover the intended measuring area, and it will be in its full function at Visoka. As stated, it is a passive antenna system, which has absolutely no impact on the environment or human health because its function is not to transmit but only to measure signals. The measuring equipment is extremely sensitive, especially to those electromagnetic waves that come from close proximity and therefore the installation of transmitters in the vicinity of HAKOM’s control-measuring system will not be allowed. Otherwise, the system of control measuring centres, whose part is the control measuring centre in Split, is of utmost importance for the system of national security and for the protection of the safety of citizens, traffic and infrastructure.
