Panel discussion on the position of the Republic of Croatia on railway corridors

The topic of the panel discussion was whether Croatian railways and ports were well charted on the European corridor maps and what can be done to earn better status, but also an opportunity for modernization.

ZAGREB, 13 December 2022 - Organised by the Alliance for Railways and the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), a panel discussion was held on Tuesday, 13 December, at the premises of the Croatian Employers' Association in Zagreb on “Croatia in the TEN-T and RFC corridors – are we connected to Europe?” The panel was also attended by the representatives of transporters, infrastructure managers, and Department of Logistics and Mobility at University Centre Koprivnica - University North.

The topic of the panel discussion was the position of the Republic of Croatia on railway corridors, whether the Croatian railways and ports are well charted on the European corridor maps, which is what the competent authorities do to ensure gaining a better status and thus the opportunity to finance reconstruction and modernization. While European railway maps are being drawn up and a financing plan is being prepared for the next ten years, the EC is discussing the TEN-T network extension amendment in Croatia. Thus, the EC proposes that along with today's two corridors, two other important corridors pass through Croatia linking international communication between East and West Europe.

The participants were welcomed by Tonko Obuljen, President of the Council at HAKOM and Ante Klečina, President of Pro Rail Alliance, and presentations on railway corridors were held by representatives of the line ministry, HAKOM and Alpine – Western Balkans rail freight Corridor (RFC-10).
