Public call for submitting the applications for allocation of 116006 number

HAKOM issued a public call for allocation of 116006 number for the victims of crime helpline service

Zagreb, 29 June 2023 The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has issued a public call for the allocation of 116006 aimed at Victims of Crime Helpline service. The 116006 telephone number enables victims of crime to receive emotional support, to be aware of their rights and ways of exercising these rights, and to refer them to relevant organisations. It shall, in particular, provide information on local police and judicial proceedings; options for compensation and insurance issues. It also provides support in finding other ways to help victims of crime.

That is to say, the allocation of a number which forms part of the numbering range 116 intended for services of social importance, i.e. services with special social sensitivity (Harmonised European Short Code). This numbering range is part of the European regulation which aims to achieve the purpose of “the same number – the same service” throughout the European Union, i.e. to make services of social importance available through the same, easily recognizable telephone numbers in all EU countries. In this regard, five 116 XXX format numbers are reserved for certain services of social significance.
