Safer Internet Day

Within the scope of the conference on “A Search for better Internet”, HAKOM presented a new, redesigned brochure on the protection of children in the world of Internet and mobile devices.

ZAGREB, 9 February 2022 - On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, traditionally celebrated on the second Tuesday in February, there the conference was held on “Search for a better Internet”.
In  addition to educational lectures, new games and educational activities for teachers, pupils and parents with the aim of increasing competencies for appropriate, responsible, meaningful and safe use of the Internet and all digital technologies. The conference was organised by the Learning Partners Association. Association, CARNET and National CERT with partners, including HAKOM, which traditionally gives the horizon to marking Safer Internet day.

Presentation of HAKOM’s brochure

A new, redesigned HAKOM brochure titled “How to protect yourself in the world of Internet and mobile devices” was presented during the conference. The brochure contains practical and useful advice on the risks and safety on the internet, protection of privacy and personal data, the manner of codes of conduct and responsible use of social networks, and it is within the scope of HAKOM's programme for informing children and parents, which has been implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Education since 2016. The brochure, which will also be distributed to children, young people and their parents throughout Croatia, was presented by Gordana Kulišić a senior user protection expert. A large HAKOM study on the habits and experiences of Internet users in the Republic of Croatia was also presented, which was conducted in December and 1003 respondents were involved aged 18 to 65. Detailed information on the results of this study was published on the link.

Safer Internet Centre activities

As in previous years, the Centre for Safer Internet has prepared a number of interesting and educational activities for this manifestation, including panel discussion with influencers, as well as webinar for experts. On the CSI website it is possible to download educational content, short webinars, recorded on current topics such as sequestration, hate speech, screen addiction prevention, sharenting, fake news and privacy protection. The online quiz for children and young people about online safety has traditionally been held this year too.
