ZAGREB, 14 May 2020 - Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has published a special section aimed at development and application possibilities provided by 5G technology on the website. All relevant information is available via a link, and the menu provides general information on the new generation of mobile communication networks, relying on the existing technologies, which brings many new applications. In addition, information is available on the reasons and method of application, as well as data from the 5G strategy of the European Union and the plans of the Republic of Croatia. HAKOM, as an independent regulator, verifies the compliance of the set base stations with the permitted levels of electromagnetic fields (EMF) prescribed by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health and issues provisional licenses for the use of radio spectrum, as well as data on the cities where 5G technology functionality tests are performed. HAKOM is also responsible for planning and assigning radio spectrum and decides on the conditions to be set for future licensees, which includes, among other things, defining the obligation to cover the geographical area with a certain quality of signals and services. For any additional information under HAKOM's jurisdiction that is not covered by the contents of these pages, inquiries can be placed through the “Ask us” app on the following link.
