The Croatian postal services market recorded revenue growth from parcel delivery services

The increase in the number of parcels indicates a change in consumer habits, i.e. the increasing number of online purchases.

Zagreb, 13 September 2023- The postal services market in the Republic of Croatia grew strongly in the second quarter of 2023, and a significant increase in the number of parcel services resulted in a record revenue of EUR 74.5 million. Revenue growth accounted annually for 7.4 percent and is associated with a 9 % increase in the number of parcels delivered, amounting to almost 9 million.

The total number of postal items, including letters, parcels, and printed matters, amounted to over 65 million and increased this quarter due to several parcels, which managed to compensate for fewer letters and printed matters. Letters with 78.5 percent still have the highest share by type of postal share, followed by parcels with a record share of 13.7 percent, and the remaining part are printed matters.

International traffic showed normalization and an increased number of services, with approximately 10 % more services in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, and international traffic accounted for 7.1 percent of services on the total market.

The number of postal service providers remained unchanged with, 22 providers at the end of the second quarter. The largest provider is HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. with a share of 58.2 percent according to market revenues and a share of 87.2 percent according to the number of realized services.
